Puck
A type of Brownie that featured in William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream as the household servant of Oberon. Brownies were household fairies of the British Isles. They are generally friendly and find themselves an owner. They live in the household of their owner and come out at night to set out on daily tasks. They are 3ft tall, have lots of shaggy hair and wear brown clothes. They hate being talked to directly so you must announce what you would like doing or any worries you have while engaged in mundane activity around the house. One must pay them for their work with a glass of milk, oats, cakes or a bowl of cream. If a Brownie gets offended then it turns into a Boggart- a spirit that causes a nuisance for people. Brownies tend to help by giving advice, attending cattle and other daily chores.

The Aura Part 2
WHAT IS THE AURA?
The aura is the electromagnetic field that surrounds the human body (Human Energy Field-HEF) and every organism and object in the Universe.
The Human Energy Field as a collection of electro - magnetic energies of varying densities that permeate through and emit or exit from the physical body of a living person. These particles of energy are suspended around the healthy human body in an oval shaped field. This "auric egg" emits out from the body approximately 2-3 feet (1 meter on average) on all sides. It extends above the head and below the feet into the ground.
WHAT DOES AN AURA CONSIST OF?
The aura consist of seven levels/layers/auric bodies . Each one of the subtle bodies that exist around the physical body, has its own unique frequency. They are interrelated, and affect one another and the person's feelings, emotions, thinking, behavior, and health as well. Therefore a state of imbalance in one of the bodies leads to a state of imbalance in the others.
THE AURIC BODIES AND YOUR NEEDS ON EACH LEVEL OF AURIC FIELD

2) The Etheric auric body - Emotions with respect to self. Self-acceptance and self love.

4) Astral (emotional) body - Relations with others. Loving interaction with friends and family.
5) Lower mental auric body - Divine will within. To align with the divine will within, to make commitment to speak and follow the truth.
6) Higher mental auric body - Divine love, and spiritual ecstasy.

Plantain
This is my absolute favorite herb for skin irritations and it grows absolutely everywhere.
Parts used- entire plant
Medicinal- Diuretic, antiseptic, astringent, removes obstructions, anti-venom, food poisoning. As an herbal tea for colds- 1 Tbsp. Dry or fresh whole plant per cup of boiling water. Steep 10 minutes, strain and add honey. Drink throughout the day. As a healing salve- in a large non-metallic pan place 1 lb of entire plant chopped and 1 cup of lard, cover, cook down on low heat till all is mushy and green. Strain while hot. Cook and use for burns, insect bites, rashes and all sores. Can also be used as a night cream for wrinkles. Works wonders with spider bites especially the horrible wolf spiders.
The Leaves- may be used in salads or as a potherb. Eat raw, steam, boil, sauté, drink cooking liquid. Use in soups and stews. Dry and freeze. A remedy for cuts, sores, burns, snake and bug bites and inflammations. When pounded into a paste and applied to wounds, it will help stop the bleeding. Rub directly on bites and stings. Good for any skin infections: boils, carbuncles, tumors. A tea will ease bowel pain. It will help clear the head of mucus and kill worms in the stomach and bowels. Take a leaf or 2 and put it in your mouth. Chew it up until it becomes a paste. Don’t swallow. Apply this paste as a poultice to any skin infections, bites, stings, etc. you can also mash it up in a cuisinart and a little warm water. Cover with cloth to keep the area clean.
Seeds- Run your finger up the spikes to gather seeds. Use for baking, spice, sprouting. Dry and ground into meal. they make a good laxative when soaked in water and eaten raw. A tea made from the seeds helps with diarrhea, dysentery and bleeding from the mucus membranes. Contains a soothing effect. Anti-bacterial, dry cough, cardiac, diuretic, expectorant, ophthalmic, poultice, fever reducer.
Nutritional- Vitamins C, K, T (strengthens red blood cells & stops bleeding), Calcium, Oxalic Acids.
Magical- (from Scott Cunningham’s Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs)
Bind the plantain with red wool to the head to cure headaches and place beneath the feet to remove weariness. Plantain is also hung in the car to guard against the intrusion of evil spirits. A piece of the root in the pocket protects its bearer from snakebites. Healing, strength, protection, snake repellant.
Gender- feminine
Planet- Venus
Element- Earth
From time to time I will be posting information on various plants, herbs, etc. As with anything taken medicinally, you should contact your doctor first to make sure it is safe for you. If you think you have an allergy to any of the herbs, plants, etc that I talk about you should stop using it immediately and contact your doctor.
If you are eating anything that you are picking or harvesting yourself make sure that you are properly identifying the plant. Many plants look very similar and are hard to identify. Make sure that you do your own research on an herb before consumption. Make sure that you are not eating plants that are growing by the side of the road (car exhaust and road dust is not healthy), near a swimming pool (chlorine can splash onto the plants), where you think an animal has defecated or urinated or anywhere else that is subject to fertilizers, weed killers or any other chemicals.

Animal Magick- Blue Bird
Bluebird
Keynote- Modesty, Unassuming Confidence and Happiness
Cycle of - Winter and Summer (changes of seasons)
The bluebird is a native bird of North America. Although once common, they are now quite rare. This often is a reminder that we are born to happiness and fulfillment, but we sometimes get so lost and wrapped up in the everyday events of our lives that our happiness and fulfillment seem rare. When bluebirds show up as a totem, it should first of remind you to take time to enjoy yourself.
Bluebirds are part of the thrush family and you may wish to read more about thrushes to learn more of the bluebird. The males are entirely blue, while the females are blue only in the wings. Occasionally there will be some warm reddish tones on the chest as well. Pay attention to the colors and where they are located. This will provide some insight.
To the Cherokees, blue is the color of the North, while in many magical traditions, it is the color of the East or West. The edges of many Jewish prayer shawls were often the color of blue. Blue is associated with the throat chakra and creative expression. Blue is symbolic, so ask yourself what blue means to you personally.
The idea of the Bluebird being symbolic of happiness is fairly recent. This concept has developed more within this century than any other time. As far as I have been able to discover, the Bluebird did not play any major role in any myths or tales.
This bird always has a plaintive song and a modest, unassuming appearance. Its shoulders are hunched up when perched, giving an impression as if ready to dive. This can be symbolic of a need to work hard and play hard. Are you trying to shoulder to much responsibility?
To the Pueblo, Bluebirds are considered Winter birds because they descend to the lowlands with the snow and cold during that season. This transition from Winter to Summer is dramatic in the area of the western home of the Pueblo. It is a transition from great coldness to summer heat.
This is symbolic of a passage, a time of movement into another level of being. Specifically, it is connected to the transformation of a girl into a woman, and thus the Bluebird is also sometimes connected to puberty rites. This, of course, has connection to human fertility and a new confidence and happiness in coming into your own.
Other Pueblo rites revolved around the use of bluebird feathers as prayer sticks. They were considered beneficial for snow and ice, and for bringing the summer rainy season. There are also rites in the Pueblo tradition that tie them to the fertility of the land.
Bluebirds are gentle and un-aggressive. They do not push or bully other birds, but they are very scrappy when threatened. They have been known to put to flight jays and even larger birds. Their homes usually have an entrance facing South, the direction for awakening the inner child. If a bluebird has come into your life, look for opportunities to touch the joyful and intrinsically native aspects of yourself that you may have lost touch with.
